MY STORY

Confident Bald Woman in Black Jumpsuit.png

SO... I GOT
BREAST CANCER.

0/10. Would not recommend.

I didn't plan on becoming a breast cancer person. I had a career, a family, kids, a full life, and zero free time for cancer. In June 2025, I was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. Suddenly, I was learning a new language: Pathology, Staging, Triple negative, Ki-67, Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, Lymph nodes, Margins.

I KNEW MORE ABOUT MY BOOBS IN A FEW WEEKS THAN I HAD LEARNED IN THE PREVIOUS 50 YEARS.

CANCER GOT VERY REAL, VERY FAST.

Sometimes the treatment that's supposed to save your life can scare the absolute hell out of you too.

9 LYMPH NODES. ZERO CANCER. NO RESIDUAL INVASIVE CANCER.

Holy shit. Did I actually just do that?

THEN I LEARNED ABOUT THE PART NOBODY TALKS ABOUT.

The reconstruction. The scars. The hair that grows back weird. The wigs. The wedge pillows. The special bras. The transportation costs. The parts insurance conveniently forgets.

INSURANCE COVERS TREATMENT. IT DOESN'T COVER EVERYTHING IT TAKES TO GET THROUGH IT.

THAT'S WHY I STARTED CHECK YOUR BOOBIES.

I don't want just another breast cancer website. I want women to know their normal, get screened, and advocate for themselves. I want to help the woman who can't afford the wig, the scar tape, the wedge pillow, the special bra, or the ride to treatment.

BUT MAYBE I CAN MAKE IT A LITTLE LESS HARD FOR THE WOMAN COMING BEHIND ME.

CHECK YOUR BOOBIES.

Know your normal. Get screened. Help the woman coming behind you.
